Gallas returned from injury to partner Dawson at the back but one injury return saw another injury hit as Hutton limped off after just half an hour. He was replaced by Corluka.

Schwarzer kept Fulham in the game with saves from Assou-Ekotto and Pavlyuchenko before Bale netted to take a half time lead.
